What DailymotionDownloader does with copyright complaints, what a valid notice must include, and why taking a video down on Dailymotion itself works best.
Checked · By DailymotionDownloader
Videos belong to the people who make them. This page explains what we can do when that is ignored, and which route gets a video taken down fastest.
There are no files here to remove
DailymotionDownloader keeps no videos, images or audio. A lookup reads the public details of one Dailymotion video. A download then passes its stream segments from Dailymotion's servers through our relay to the visitor's browser, which packages them into an MP4 on their own device. None of it is written to our storage, and we keep no catalogue of what has been saved.
Your video turned up somewhere else
Saving a copy and publishing it are different acts. If a copy of your work has been re-uploaded, it is the re-upload that infringes, and these steps deal with it:
- Report it to the site showing it. Video platforms, social networks and hosts all run notice-and-takedown procedures.
- If the copy is on Dailymotion, use the reporting route on Dailymotion's legal pages.
- Set your original to private to stop new copies being made. This tool cannot read private or password-protected videos at all.
Sending us a notice
If you believe this service is being used against your rights and you want us to step in, email a notice that contains every item below:
- A physical or electronic signature of the rights owner or their representative.
- A description of the work you say has been infringed.
- The Dailymotion video address involved, exact enough for us to find it.
- Your full name, postal address, phone number and email.
- A statement that you believe in good faith the use is not permitted by the owner, an agent of the owner, or the law.
- A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the notice is accurate and that you own the rights or may act for the owner.
The address for notices is copyright@dailymotiondownloader.dev; the contact page lists the others. Each complete notice is reviewed. Where there is something we can do, such as stopping a particular video id from being looked up, we do it.
False claims
A notice filed knowing it is untrue, or in bad faith, can make the sender liable for damages, legal costs and attorneys' fees. Check your claim before sending it.
If you think a block was a mistake
When a video has been blocked after a notice and you believe it was misidentified, send a counter-notice to the same address. Include your signature, the video concerned, a statement under penalty of perjury that the block was a mistake, your contact details, and your consent to the jurisdiction of a competent court.
Repeated abuse
Addresses used again and again for infringing or abusive requests are throttled and then blocked.
