Standards
How our guides are checked
The standards behind our Dailymotion guides: what we test ourselves, which sources we trust, how mistakes get fixed, and who pays for the site.
Checked · By DailymotionDownloader
Two sorts of page live on this site. Some describe the downloader, which we built and can test end to end. Others explain how Dailymotion itself behaves, which we can only observe from outside. Each gets its own standard, set out here, followed by how corrections and money are handled.
Hands-on testing
We wrote the downloader, and the guides lean on what it sees when it talks to Dailymotion: the metadata, the playlists and the stream segments that come back, rather than on other sites' write-ups. Two places that shows up:
- Real tier names. The lowest common quality appears as 380p because that is the label in Dailymotion's own data, even though most video sites would say 360p.
- Measured availability. When we say how often a quality is offered, the figure comes from a sample of public videos we looked up ourselves, and the page says so and when.
Claims we cannot test are left out. You will not find speed rankings, success-rate figures or "best downloader" badges here, because we would have nothing to back them with.
Writing about Dailymotion
Pages about Dailymotion's features and rules are reporting on a service we have no control over, so they follow four habits:
- Dailymotion's word over anyone else's. Behaviour and policy are checked against the Dailymotion Help Center and Dailymotion's legal pages, with links so you can read the original.
- A date on every guide. Apps get redesigned and rules get rewritten, so each guide shows when it was first published and when it was last checked.
- Numbers need a source. A figure we cannot trace is cut. File sizes are given as ranges because they really do differ from one video to the next.
- The awkward parts stay in. Dailymotion's terms do not allow downloading without permission. A download site could gloss over that; ours states it wherever it matters.
Authorship
Guides go out under the DailymotionDownloader name, not under a named writer, and the site as a whole answers for them. Putting a made-up person with made-up qualifications at the top of each page would look more personal and be less honest.
4 guides are live at the moment. Every one shows its first and latest dates and links back here.
Fixing mistakes
Tell us when something is wrong: email hello@dailymotiondownloader.dev, name the page, and quote the sentence you think is mistaken. A precise report gets fixed far sooner than a general one.
What happens next depends on the mistake:
- A wrong fact is rewritten on the page itself, and the page's checked date moves to the day of the fix.
- A mistake someone might have acted on gets a visible note explaining what changed, rather than a quiet edit.
- Ordinary drift, such as Dailymotion renaming a menu, is updated without a note; only the date changes.
Money and independence
Today, and you can confirm each point by looking at the pages:
- No ads are shown. No ad units, and no ad network code on any page.
- No commission links. Clicking a link here earns us nothing.
- No paid placements. Nobody has paid to be mentioned or linked, and that is not for sale.
- No analytics. No third-party scripts load at all.
- No user accounts. With nothing to sign up for, there is no personal data to profit from.
Running costs may one day be covered by advertising. If that happens, this page and the privacy policy will say so before the first ad appears, every ad will be marked as one, and none will be styled to look like a download button.
Where the guarantees stop
- Pages can go out of date. Dailymotion changes without announcing it, so a correct guide can drift. The dates show how recently each page was checked.
- Nothing here is official. We have no link to Dailymotion and no information beyond what it makes public.
- No legal advice. Copyright comes up because downloading raises it, but our pages describe it only in general. A real situation calls for a lawyer.
- Translations had help. The homepages in other languages were translated with machine assistance and edited, but not every one has been checked by a native speaker. Corrections are welcome by email.
