Privacy Policy

What DailymotionDownloader does with the Dailymotion links you paste, what our servers log and for how long, and what stays on your own device.

Who runs this site

dailymotiondownloader.dev is operated by the publisher of DailymotionDownloader. Questions about this policy go to hello@dailymotiondownloader.dev.

Information our servers receive

Video links. When you press Download, the link goes to our server, which asks Dailymotion for that video's public details. The answer (title, channel, qualities and cover image addresses) is cached for around ten minutes so a second lookup of the same video does not need another request to Dailymotion. The cache entry is not linked to you and is used for nothing else.

Connection details. Like any website, our servers see your IP address, browser user agent, the time and the address requested. The IP address is used to apply the per-address lookup limit, and our hosting provider keeps routine access logs for security. We do not profile visitors with this, and we do not sell it or pass it on.

Legal basis

Looking up the link is needed to give you what you asked for. Applying the lookup limit and keeping security logs fall under our legitimate interest in keeping the service running and protecting it from misuse. None of it feeds advertising, profiling or automated decisions.

Things we never collect

  • Names, email addresses or passwords. There are no accounts.
  • The videos themselves. They pass through our relay and are not saved.
  • Analytics or ad tracking of any kind, including third-party pixels.
  • Your clipboard. The Paste button reads it inside your browser, only when you tap it, and the text leaves your device only if it is a Dailymotion link and you go ahead with the lookup.

What is kept on your device

No cookies are set. Your browser's localStorage holds one setting, light or dark theme, which is never sent to us.

Browsers without a "save as" dialog, including Android Chrome, Firefox and Safari, build the MP4 in their own private site storage first and then move it to your Downloads folder. That working copy is removed about ten minutes after the download begins, immediately if you cancel, or the next time you visit if the page was closed early. It stays on your device the whole time.

Other companies involved

Dailymotion. Our server contacts Dailymotion to look up a video, and the video's segments reach your browser through our relay. That means Dailymotion sees our server making the request, not you. What Dailymotion does with that request is covered by its own privacy policy.

Dailymotion's image servers. The preview picture in your results loads straight from Dailymotion's image servers into your browser, sent with a no-referrer policy. Blocking images on this site avoids that request and makes no difference to downloading.

Our hosting provider. The website and its API run on a third-party hosting and network service that handles requests for us, possibly in data centres in other countries.

How long things are kept

  • Video details from a lookup: about ten minutes.
  • Video files on our servers: never kept.
  • Lookup-limit counters: reset every minute.
  • Server access logs: held for our hosting provider's standard period, for security and abuse checks.
  • Working copies in your browser: about ten minutes, as described above.

Your rights

Depending on the law where you live, you may be able to see, correct or have deleted personal data held about you, to object to or limit how it is used, and to complain to a data-protection regulator. As we have no accounts, we usually hold nothing that identifies you. If you think we do, email us and we will look into it and delete whatever we find.

Children

The site is not aimed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information about them.

When this policy changes

A meaningful change moves the date at the top of this page. Should advertising or analytics ever be introduced, this page will be updated first, and visitors in places that require consent will be asked for it before anything loads.
